At St. Philip's we're one big happy family and we're always excited to welcome new members to our church home where EVERYONE is welcome! We are a deeply inclusive community and welcome everyone with open arms and open hearts no matter your race, gender, background or who you love. Whether you are seeking a new spiritual home or just passing through, you belong here!

You can find us nestled in San Antonio's Southeast side at
1310 Pecan Valley Drive.
Worship Services are held every Sunday beginning at 10am and usually last just about an hour, but don't leave just yet! Follow us to the Davis-Waller Parish Hall for free food and conversation!

Whatever you feel comfortable in! Seriously, we're not the fashion police. Come as you are for “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away” - John 6:37

Our service structure is liturgical, meaning it follows a set order of rites and ceremonies that organizes the year around the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We have a reading from the Old Testament, a Psalm, a reading from the New Testament and a Gospel.

When it is time for the Gospel, we all stand as the priest, eucharistic minister, and acolyte walk to the middle of the church and bring the Word of God to the people- just like Jesus did! The Gospel is pulled from one of four books - The Book of Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Before the reading begins many parishioners will mark a cross on their forehead, lips and heart - an unspoken prayer “God be in my mind, on my lips, and in my heart”.

After the Gospel, our priest or celebrant will give a sermon to help us connect the story from Jesus' time to our present daily lives or some other meaningful reflections.

After the sermon, we will kneel or stand and pray the Nicene prayer together followed by the Peace. Everyone walks around blessing each other with God's peace by shaking hands, giving hugs, or just simply throwing up the peace sign.

After the Peace, we will have a short period for announcements, birthday or anniversary blessings and any other cause for celebration or need for prayer. This is also the time where any visitors may be officially welcomed by the whole congregation.

Following the Peace, we will sing a song of praise as the priest and lay leaders prepare the altar with the gifts of God. Once the table is set, the priest will lead us in the Eucharistic prayer, reenacting the Last Supper to remind us of Christ's profound love and ultimate sacrifice.

All baptized Christians, regardless of denomination, are welcome to receive Holy Communion in the Episcopal Church. Come forward to the altar rail and kneel or stand as you prefer. Open your hands and place one palm over the other to receive the bread (or wafer). You may drink directly from the chalice by gently guiding the base of the cup, or you may dip your bread into the wine (called intinction). If you do not wish to receive the bread or wine, you are still welcome to come forward for a blessing. Simply cross your arms over your chest as a sign to the priest. It is traditional to respond by saying "Amen" after receiving the bread and the wine.

Once everyone has received Holy Communion, we will share our closing prayers and offer thanks for God’s gifts. We will then sing a closing hymn as the priest and lay leaders process down the aisle. Following a final prayer, the organist will play a postlude of their choice while the altar candles are extinguished, signaling the end of the service. Applause is a wonderful way to express gratitude for the organist's musical gifts at the conclusion of their piece.

Join us in the Parish Hall right after the service for food, drinks, and great conversation. It’s our favorite time to unwind, catch up after a busy week, and connect with new friends. We also occasionally host fun games, celebrations, or quick church updates. Don't rush off—we'd love to meet you!
